Thanks to Torley's recommendation for blog editing software, I'm giving ecto a whirl. The Mac OSX version, of course. So far it seems fairly nifty, although I'm still trying to figure out what all the little bells and whistles can accomplish.

As soon as my ignorant, seemingly incompetent insurance company gives me a replacement power charger (starting to come up on a full 6 months of waiting), I’ll be playing with that too.
For now I’m experimenting with Flock.
Damn thing reformats my HTML when I switch between Editor and Source.

For Mac OS X I’d suggest trying the shareware MarsEdit – http://www.ranchero.com/marsedit/

Actually, the ecto is just used for making posts. The theme is something separate.
